As someone who works in the Body modification industry, I cannot recommend piercing a baby’s ears. 1. The piercing guns used in most malls are not ever properly sterilized. They’re usually wiped down with alcohol which does not kill pathogens like Hepatitis. Your baby doesn’t have an immune system yet and it’s taking an unnecessary risk that opens her tiny body to infection. 2. Baby cannot keep her hands away from her face/ears which means the piercing can get more easily irritated and infected. 3. Cheap jewelry can cause serious reactions. 4. Ears grow, where the center of her earlobes are now is not where the center of her earlobes will be at 5, 10, 20 years old and can lead to off-centered piercings in the future. 5. Piercing guns simply shove an earring through the lobe, which can cause scar tissue to form. Proper piercing establishments use sharp needles that do far less trauma to the tissue and result in little to no scar tissue.

I’ve never thought of piercing my daughters ears after she’s born. I’m going to be to busy with everything else to worry about cleaning piercings as well, but that’s just me.

Don’t agree with it,when I was training in ear piercing I was told never to pierce a babies ears, they can go into shock and can’t tell you, not really necessary is it.

The baby has no say, I would let the child make the decision on their own when they’re old enough.
