do you think sugar makes kids hyper?

I have heard alot of opinions about whether it does or not. Some people say it does make them hyper some say it doesn't that it's dyes that do, what do you think?

No it absolutely doesn’t.
People will swear up and down it does “well you just come and look after MY child after some sugar and then tell me it doesn’t” but they’re all just susceptible to confirmation bias. Numerous studies have shown that being hyper after sugar isn’t a real thing and if you think you’re observing it in your own children it’s all in your head

I don’t think sugar makes them hyper, I think it’s more refined carbs and sugary snacks give them a bit more energy than whole grains or fibrous snacks, for a shorter period of time. The sugars from refined snacks hit the bloodstream faster so give a more instant burst of energy whereas whole grains are slow release foods, giving the feeling of being fuller longer and releasing energy more slowly. It’s not hyperactivity, it’s just energy.

Listen, my 5yo cousin ate her entire little box of chocolates she got from a pageant, ate chocolate ice cream when she got home and gummy worms. 
All she did was fight sleep the whole time. Safe to say, sugar doesn’t do shit for her lol.

Oh this has been informative and actually changed my yes to a no!:)
Reading some of this and following searches etc. good shit. And actually makes a good deal of sense as I never felt growing up like I was getting “sugar rushes”, but friends or young family who were constantly warned about how they’ll get hyper were always, well, getting “hyper” on the same things that I and my sisters weren’t. Interesting stuff, and even now as I’m watching my bf’s younger brother grow up I’ve picked up on his “hyper” behavior and it honestly just feels like an act or as though it’s not really what he’s feeling, like how you know a real crying kid from the kid faking to get something, but is reinforced by his parents cooing about how amped he gets.

Well our bodies run on sugar. Without it we would be sluggish and have no energy. So sugar does give people energy but I wouldn’t necessarily say it makes kids hyper

If I'm being honest I never thought it did. I still don't think it plays such a huge roll with how it's been potrayed. But when my younger sister was like five we did let her eat the little pink sugar crystal sprinkles that go on her birthday cake and she just ran in circles for a while. I am being 100% serious. I was absolutely shocked because I had never witnessed this behavior from any other kid or even her before. It freaked me out. But it ONLY happens with those sprinkles no other candy or sugar. Idk What's up with it but we don't really let her have them anymore. Anyway that's the only one instance I can think of... everything else I think is just hype
