Thoughts on this?

So I’m a nanny and I am in NO WAY mommy shaming or judging, but I just wanted to share and see what everyone else’s opinions are in this matter. One of the little boys I nanny for is 14 months old. He’s your typical toddler. He’s rambunctious and full of energy and, for the most part, very content. Lately he’s been having really bad fits in the evening due to teething and just being a crabby toddler 🤷🏻‍♀️. He has never taken a pacifier. His parents have tried so hard during his infancy to get him to take one but he just doesn’t like it. His brother, on the other hand, took one until he was 2.5. I figured they were done trying to get him to take one but last night they said they’re still trying to force him to take the pacci at 14 months to “calm him down”. To me this seems a little crazy because it’s a blessing at that age he never took one. And I wouldn’t want to start a hard habit to break now?! I have nothing against pacifiers, but it seems weird that they want to start using them now? Is that just me?
