Am I pumping enough milk?

I’ve just started pumping at 7 weeks postpartum and I seem to only get 2 oz per breast, sometimes less. My baby always seems satisfied after feedings and her diapers are frequent and full. This amount seems very little to me, am I right? Do you have any suggestions on increasing my supply?

What time of day are you pumping? You won’t get much at night. I had a drop in supply so i started downing water all day and having oatmeal for breakfast. I also power pump during baby’s afternoon nap and it changed my life!!

I’m also 7 weeks pp and when I do get a chance to pump, I get less than an ounce from each breast each session. My baby seems satisfied. I try to pool as much milk together from 2 days in the fridge and freeze them.

Are you only getting two ounces on top of feeding on demand? If so I think that's pretty normal. When I was building a small freezer stash or pumping for my inlaws to watch the babe for a couple of hours I could only pump 2 ounces or so. Now that I am back to work and pumping two times a day I'm getting between 6 and 12 ounces each pump.

If your baby seems satisfied, then you are producing enough for the baby. At 7 weeks, your baby doesn’t need as much as you think. Also, keep in mind, pumps don’t express as much milk as babies do. You’re probably pumping slightly less than your baby is getting straight from you. Don’t worry though, it may be such a small amount your baby won’t notice.
