Hyphenated last names ?

I am thinking about hyphenating my babies last name . I want him to have my last name but his dad is not having it . I don’t see ya getting married or being together much longer . I was thinking about using both of our last names . No judgement I have my reasons . Any opinions ? Has anyone ever hyphenated their babies name ?

My last name would be so stupid as a middle name lol ! I got married previously and hyphenated my name I am divorced now and our daughter took his last name and he hasn’t been in the picture for 6 years , so I’m regretting that decision ! He is just a total asshole and I’m seeing him doing the same thing ! He already signed his rights over to his first child . Good thing is both our last names are short and not hard to write . He’s due in two weeks and I can’t make my mind up !

I personally don't want to hyphenate because one name tends to not get used and I know it would be mine, but generally speaking I don't see anything wrong with it.

You can use both last names but not hyphenated if you want.  That's what we're doing.  My LO will have to use both last names on legal documents but day-to-day, we'll just use his first name and paternal last name.

My sister hyphenated when she got married, but they didn't want to hyphenate baby so they used her maiden name as a second middle name, so John Paul Smith Anderson (not real name). Or John Anderson with no middle names.

I'm not a huge fan of hyphenated names, partially because my hubby's last name is already long on its own. Another option would be to use your last name as the middle name, and his last name. Or vice versa.

My son have one first name and two last names. So if he don’t like it he can change it when he gets older. We dropped to have the name hyphenated as it would be 15letters long.

If you’ll be the one bringing up your child, make it your last name! I was brought up almost solely by my amazing mum but had my dad’s last name and it always bothered me.

My maiden name was hyphenated and 9 letters long. So annoying, I ditched the second half in my teens for ease. Now I have a 4letter surname and it's lovely and short.
