I'm 38 weeks today and 1 cm dilated? how long did it take you to get in labor?

I was 1 cm at 33 weeks and they still had to induce me at 39 weeks.

The cervix is not a crystal ball. You could be closed and high and go into labor in an hour. You could be 4cm for 4 weeks and need induced.
This is why I recommend not getting checked until active labor. There’s no reason. It just introduces the risk of infection. There is no need for your cervix to dilate before labor.

dilation and effacement don't mean a whole lot.  your body could decide to go into labor no matter you're dilation.  with my first a had an appintment at 37 +6, half a centimeter dilated, not effaced. she was born the next day.  my next two babies I at around at 2 or 3 centimeters for a couple weeks.  you never know.

I was 3 cm dilated at 33 weeks with my son . they had to induce me at 38 because he had low fluid around him cause I kept on telling my doctor he wasn't moving allot like when I was pregnant with my girls.
