In Need of Advice!!

So I am looking for advice. My husband and I (we’re still in College right now so this is a 3 years in the future problem) both have immediate family in east TN, on either side of Knoxville. He is not on good terms with his parents (his mom was abusive, kicked him out at 17, etcetera) and he wants to move away from them and his home town, preferably to South Carolina. I am on great terms with my family, they’ve been there for me the whole time, my mom is from Germany (and she’s not much of a people person, but family is the most important thing to her) and I’m her best friend and she’s mine. Honestly I would love to move away from Tennessee. I hate it, and I think I would like South Carolina. But I don’t want to be incredibly far away from my parents... they’re getting older and I want them to be involved in my life and my *future* children’s lives.

The only reason I’m asking for advice now is because we have to choose colleges to transfer to for our Masters and Doctorates, and my husband wants to build our life up while getting those last two degrees. So basically settle down somewhere near the college we’re going to. Obviously nothing is set in stone, just hoping for advice!!
