Which one is better?

The Merlin suit or zipadee-zip. I’m trying to transition my son into something else because swaddling is no longer working. He can now break out of everything. His reflex is still bad even ever he touches his face it wakes him up. He sleeps in a rock n play right now because of his silent reflux and having RSV recently. I need something that I can put him in there with.

I loved the Merlin! We used it from 3- maybe 5 months. I really don’t remember. But we definitly started at three months bc he broke out of swaddles and we had to move him to his crib to use the Merlin bc it’s big! My son had bad startles too and it worked amazing. By maybe 5 months we transitioned him to just his pajamas (he hated the sleep sack) and he didn’t have a problem. 
Our first full night of sleep was at four months with the Merlin for a month and it was heavenly!
If you do get it, they come in cotton and in fleece, the cotton one was perfect for all weather and we even used the larger siZe at 3 months, our son was never “big” but on the larger size of average.

We used the Merlin and followed with the Zipadee. Note that you CAN use the Merlin if your baby is rolling! You just have to stop using it when your baby learns to roll when IN the Merlin. This is clearly stated in the instructions for them. So you can actually get the Merlin to last longer because it is really hard for them to roll in the Merlin. When our baby started moving to her side in the Merlin, we began transitioning her into the Zipadee at naps. Worked like a dream. I’m was super happy with both and am going to do the same with baby two.

The love to dream swaddle up 50/50 worked great for us. Transitioned him from fully swaddled to that, then one arm out, then both arms. Now he just sleeps in a sleep sack. Took about a month.

I agree it depends on how close baby is to turning over. I love the magic Merlin, and I think that’ll be your best bet to help with the reflex!

I never used the Merlin because by the time I tried to transition my son out of the swaddle he was rolling, and the Merlin isn’t safe for rolling babies. We’re currently using the zipadee and it’s a good transition swaddle because it’s safe for mobile babies, even up to age 2 I believe. The zipadee doesn’t prevent the startle reflex as much as a real swaddle, so my son would wake himself up in the beginning, but now he’s used to it. We found the easiest way to transition was by using the Love to Dream swaddles, and removing one arm at a time. That was my favorite swaddle because it’s impossible for babies to escape with a zipper that comes all the way up to the neck, much like the zipadee.
Like I said, I can’t give my real opinion on the Magic Merlin, but if your baby isn’t rolling yet you could try it. My only concern would be the cost of something that you’ll only be able to use for a short amount of time, until your baby starts rolling, whereas the zipadee is a better investment because it can be used way longer.
