So to make a long story short I got pregnant young with my first child. Her dad didn't really try to be in her life, cared more about parties and his friends. Couldn't keep a job down, two days before I had her he ended up in jail for driving without a license. I made the decision to not put his name on the birth certificate and not give her his last name in hopes he would get his shit together. well about 9 or 10 months later he did, so we got back together, he's a great dad now actually helps, has held his job for over a year. my daughter is 2 and we just found out we are due again. he doesn't show any interest in changing her name to his because he said it's a lot of paper work but wants this new baby to have his last name. Am I being selfish in thinking that that's stupid and I do NOT want my kids to have 2 last names with the same dad?? what do I tell him that doesn't hurt his feelings but explains that it's never going to happen.
