When my oldest was a toddler she was super picky, and still is. I’d have her drink whole milk because she needed that fat to store for energy. My youngest daughter has always had to have lactose free milk, but I still bought her the one with highest fat content. 
I only do this because both my kids are super skinny and have super high metabolisms.
