Registry Norms?

Lisa

I'm the type that likes to prepare so holding off getting everything for Baby is killing me. But I have a large family and this is the first baby in 20 years on either side. At 34, I think they had written me off! Aside from that I have an extensive and close knit community I belong to (I show dogs) that doesn't see babies much so I think some of them are more excited than I am! So that being said I've agreed to what amounts to two showers, a family and old friends one, and one for my dog family (I don't want to call that a shower because I don't want anyone to feel as if they should get me anything). Already I've had people ask for my registry and so far I've kind of put it off because I feel like it's still soon to give that out? Is it? I'm not planning on posting publicly the registry ever but when is it acceptable to give when asked? I've always felt weird receiving gifts but to put it mildly I've been told to deal with it, everyone is excited! What's normal? I'm anxious to not appear greedy. We can afford our own things but I won't lie and say it wouldn't be a help.
