My boyfriend doesn’t want to keep our date

So basically my boyfriend and I got together August of 2016. Well July of 2017 we broke up for about six months and now we are back together but he doesn’t want to keep our same date he says because we were broken up. I just think that if someone asks me when we got together shouldn’t I say since 2016? Or am I wrong please feel free to tell me if I’m wrong
