What should I do with my dead boyfriend's shirt?

When I was 15 my 16 year old boyfriend died in a car accident. We were in love and had planned our future together, so when he died I spiralled into this massive depression that I barely made it out alive from. I'm now 21 and healed, happy and in a relationship with the man I want to marry.
I just don't know what to do with this shirt?! It just sits there, I don't wear it anymore, don't smell it or cuddle it, it just sits at the bottom of my shelf.. any suggestions? I don't want to give it back to his mum for a lot of reasons.. thanks xx

Maybe you could get a teddy or pillow made from it.

Maybe you can leave it somewhere sentimental - a place u planned to go or somewhere you used to go together.

If it were me, I'd probably keep it. I might put it in a shadow box, and place the box somewhere safe, along with whatever other kind of sentimental keepsakes you may have, from movie tickets, cards, photos. I mean, I know you're moving on, and that's so great, I'm thrilled for you, but what you had was real, and you loved him, and you experienced a tragic loss. It would be different if the two of you had broken up, or if he broke your heart by lying, or cheating on you, or even dumping you. You'll always think of him and smile, and that's okay because he was your first love. So, it's okay to want to preserve something of his. So put it up somewhere where if ever you feel the need to, you can take it out from time to time, or maybe when and if you're ever ready to part with it, you can give it to his Mother. IMO, you're still not quite ready or else you wouldn't be asking what you should do with it, and you wouldn't have a problem giving to his Mother. It's a good sign that maybe you just need to hold on to it for a little while longer. Until YOU'RE ready!

Just donate it I hve three huge bags of clothes for donation right now so many old memories but its stuff I will never wear nd forgot I even owned so Just donate it to the goodwill or salvation army or any other local clothing drops

I’ve seen these teddy bears where the the outside of the teddy bear is made with a ver special item of clothing... you could do that.

If you no longer want to keep it, I would give it to his mom/other relative.

You shouldn't have to give it up because you've moved on. He was a part of your life. Your relationship together was a part of your life and that's ok. If you really must part with it I think leaving it in a place that was special to you is a really nice idea. But for me, I would keep it.

You should keep it. It’s okay to move on and be happy but that doesn’t mean you have to forget or let go of your past. Especially under the circumstances!
