                            ****long post****
Well it is finally my turn to share my birth story, to start off my Dr.’s originally thought my due date was 1/17/18.... but towards the end of my pregnancy he was measuring right on track for a due date of 1/27/18, witch confirmed What One of my Dr.’s had told me back at the beginning of may, that I had miscarried with our first at around 6 weeks, and when I past both due dates the fact of my early miscarriage started to weigh heavily on my anxious mind. At 39 weeks I was 1-2 cm i had my membranes partially stripped at that weeks appointment and by my 40 weeks visit I was 2cm I had my membranes stripped 3 times between that week and the beginning of my 41st week in hopes to start labor naturally, well despite all of our attempts and I mean all of them, not a single wives tale or crazy food trend would put me into labor, so my OB set my induction date for 2/5/18. So we got all our ducks in a row and went into L&D around 9:30 that night, they started an IV, took blood and about an hour later the on call dr came in from another practice, didn’t follow my OB’s office plan of simply starting Pitocin since by the third membrane sweep I was at 3cm, he inserted a foley bulb catheter, without explaning to me what he was doing or telling me how bad it was gonna hurt! Said it would stay in for a couple of hours.... well giving the fact that I was already dilated past what he inflated it to the second I stood up to go pee... it came out, I was pissed. But then they let me get some sleep and around 530 gave me breakfast and started Pitocin I went four hours with no pain medication but do to my nerve damage my contractions started to radiate through my right sciatic nerve to the point we’re I couldn’t breathe, my nurse said I. This state I wouldn’t progress properly and we decided to go with an epidural at that point 30 minuets late I was much better off resting in bed comfortably at 4cm. That was around 9am fast forward to 3pm I started to feel more pressure and a slight pain in my stomach on my right side that got worse and worse so my nurse checked me and my family took bets to see what I was, mom and sister said 6 I thought a 7 but my husband said 9 & 1/2 and well for once he was right! She let me go another hours had the dr check me and she started getting my room ready, I pushed for a total of an hour and 15 minuets, the Dr. wasn’t busy so he was there with me even through the practice pushing, the pain from my hip was absolutely excruciating even with my epidural. At 6:19pm on February 6th 2018 my son John Abel Pope was born 8lbs 4oz 20.5 inches long, he may have been 10days late but he was absolutely perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing! P.S labor and birth was so much less scary than what people had made it out to be for me! And you totally do forget all the pain 💕
