How do you tell when it is ok to give you LO baby food puffs?

My son is 8 months and LOVES food. He has a great appetite will eat any flavor of stage 2 that we give him and is always watching us when we eat. Now that he has the hang of putting things in his mouth I wanted to try the Gerber Graduates Puffs but i don't know how to tell when he is ready for something like that. When did you all start giving things like that to you LOs?

We did it around 7 months. At that point she had been getting solids for a month and had no issues swallowing. I just watched her carefully at first. It helps with fine motor development too.

We tried a few weeks ago and she didn’t really understand how to put them in her mouth, she kept missing and get frustrated. So I continued with purees and I let her hold the spoon while I helped guide it to her mouth, and last week I sat down on the floor with her (she sits unsupported) and she ate like 10 in a row. She took it off my hand with her pincer & thumb and put it right in her mouth. I also licked them first to soften them until she got used to chewing them, now she’s a pro and doesn’t need that kind of help, and she wants them all day long! She’s also trying more finger foods like pasta and broccoli. She’s not exactly crawling yet, she kinda scoots around with her belly on the floor & she’ll be 8 months soon. I’d say it’s when their ready, it never hurts to try and then try again later!

My son was around 7 months when he started those. It was all trial and error, offered him stuff and if he did well with it yay and if he failed at it wait a couple weeks.

I do baby led weaning and my daughter had puffs around 6 months. After like a month I switched to cheerios, cheaper and basically the same thing. Puffs are designed to melt so they aren't a choking hazard.

We did baby led weaning starting at 6 months so our daughters always had regular foods and puffs and things like that. Foods like puffs and crunchies and yogurt melts dissolve in their mouth super quickly so they really don’t need teeth or anything for those.

My son will be 9 months in two days. He’s been eating the lil crunchies since he was about 7 months old. We tried the puffs then as well but he still had a hard time. We tried again around 8 months and he’s been eating them since. He has two bottom teeth, he can chew, and can feed himself, and obviously sits unsupported. A lot of those things say when they are a crawler however my son still doesn’t crawl. He has no interest. If he understands the concept of chewing and has a few teeth he can probably start them. If not maybe start with the lil crunchies because they dissolve a lot easier than the puffs and so that might be a good way to get him used to chewing something a little harder.

My son is the same way. He loves all beech nuts(hates gerber). I gave my son puffs puffs when he had 2 teeth on on the bottom. He was about 8-9 months

Crawling stage is what they suggest. If baby can chew even without teeth it should be fine.
