Schedule a c section or attempt vaginal birth? (Twins)

My time is coming and my doc is wanting to know what I would like to do for birth. I've been really leaning towards trying a vaginal birth.. I had my daughter vaginally 5 years ago. I've never had major surgery and I am very scared. Mostly I'm scared of delivering one and having to have a csection for the other.. as of now they are both head down. I feel like I'm a little more in control with scheduling the csection.. but I'm still in between. What would be your preference and why? Did you opt for a vaginal birth and wished you'd have done the csection? Or vise versa?

I just gave birth to my twins on Monday and I did it vaginally! It was awesome! My water broke at 4:30 in the morning and I gave birth to the first one at 9:21 and the second one at 9:41. I ended up getting the epidural at 9 cm (which I'm really glad I did), because it made pushing much more "enjoyable". All together I pushed for like an hour. Once I got my first baby out the second one came down immediately into position. The worst part was the placentas coming out afterwards honestly 😂 I only had to get two stitches and my recovery has been great so far.

My OB has delivered about 600 sets of twins and only needed to do vaginal & C-section once. Ever. He has 80% vaginal rate with twins! I had mine vaginally, baby A was head down and Baby B was breech (and was delivered footling breech, no issues). With yours being both head down that's even better! I personally would highly prefer to avoid major surgery. I loved my vaginal delivery, it was so incredible!

If mine cooperate, I will definitely try for vaginal! If it helps, most everything I’ve read says the chance of having vaginal and then cs for the other is like 4%. And with both of yours head down, I would personally go for it. My OB will go in and guide baby b down if they aren’t completely head down.

I'm due in May and planning for vaginal as long as baby A is head down. like everyone else said, it's so rare to have to do a c section and vaginal. go with your gut instinct! I say vaginal!

I’m planning a vaginal birth. Baby A is head down and I would love to avoid a c section.  My doctor told me it’s very rare to deliver one and then need a c section for the second.  Both babies being head down is perfect for a vaginal birth also.

I had my twins about a year and a half ago. I wanted to deliver vaginally like I did with my first 5 years before also but unfortunately one was transverse and the other breeched. So I had to have a c section and it scared the hell out of me. I’ve researched and researched, watched videos to help me prepare but omg nothing worked. Even up until I was on the bed after the medicine was out in I was shaking and nervous. It was over quickly and I recovered fine. I’m currently pregnant again and was given the options of VBAC or c section and I was going to choose VBAC but I would have to deliver at a hospital that has had many complaints so at the end I’m getting the c section again. **my husband also said I did a lot better with the c section than vaginally.

Hi!  I have twins who are 9 years old, and I delivered them vaginally.  Both were head down.  I delivered in the operating room with dr and anesthesiologist present in case I needed an emergency c-section, but I didn't end up needing one.

I am on week 35 with fraternal boys and both are head down. My Dr want me to deliver them vaginally and I will be induce on 12th of March in case they don't want to come till than :) depending on what you feel, and how the babies are decide what is best for you. Good luck

I have 6 week old twins and I vaginally delivered. If baby A is head down i think you for sure should go vaginally. I had my twins 6 mins apart! So glad I didn’t just opt for the c section, recovery was so much better this way!

I just had my girls 2 weeks ago via csection. It was supposed to be planned but my water broke 3 days before my scheduled date and so it turned into an emergency. It was actually sort of traumatizing because of how fast everything went. It just reminded me that even the best made plans can go off the rails, so don’t assume scheduling one automatically gives you more control! Good luck mama ❤️
