Also, does someone’s LACK of religious belief make you question their expertise on a certain topic?

It depend if they’re using their religious beliefs to argue a topic. Eg arguing against evolution despite the scientific evidence

It depends on the individual,  but yes,  some religious individuals are very closed minded so they wouldn't be educated in certain subjects.

Oh yeah. Since I left religion, I side eye a lot of discussions now when religious people use their beliefs as facts.

I voted sometimes because it really depends. For example, if someone says “I’m Christian” I’m not going to assume anything. If someone says “the Bible is more important than science” I’m gonna make some assumptions about their general understanding of the world

I'm Muslim but very open minded to others beliefs, I am steady in my own but always willing to listen to others, and always at least try to understand their point of view ☺️

I think that people who are super religious that their views or expertise on topics are convoluted. Just in my experience it seems some are blinded by their faith. People who aren’t religious I don’t really know. If they have facts than Greta. I don’t think them not being religious makes a difference. 
At the end of the day. If you have proof, evidence, or facts on a topics than that’s all you need. But actual ones. Not ones your told by someone else if that makes sense.

Not necessarily. It really depends on the argument their making and what facts/experience/or expertise they have to back them up. 
I once watched a Fox News interview with Reza Aslan about a book he wrote called “Zealot: the Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth”. Aslan is a Muslim. So the Fox anchor asks why he, someone who practices Islam, would write a book about Jesus and Christianity. She seemed to legitimately not understand why he’d do that. His rebuttal was that he has four degrees in Religious Studies. Now, I’ve not read the book and I don’t know a lot about Aslan, but I’d say it was an example of when one’s own religion should not be used as a reason to try and dismiss what they may know about others.

No it doesn’t. Unless if the person cites the Bible for their political arguments.

Absolutely. When a non religious person tries to argue anything that goes against the bible eg. Creation, among many other things, I automatically put it down as they have no clue at all about what they’re saying.
