I plan to have the baby in arms reach for the first 6 month to a year so I feel like it'd be a waste for us. I also feel like for the cost there shouldn't be as many false alarms as I've read about.

For your own piece of mind, it's totally worth it! SIDS is my worst fear and knowing I'll be alarmed if oxygen levels or heart rate lowers is beautiful

If I ever have another baby I will definitely be getting something along those lines. My youngest had many health complications and was hooked up to a pulse oximeter 24/7. I don’t think I could handle not having that assurance now.

Depends on your situation. 
I didn’t get one but then again my baby was vary healthy when he was born so I didn’t feel I needed one. Now he’s 6 months old and is still healthy.
