You can get a surge right before your period but that doesn’t mean ovulation is happening then

You can but that would indicate a problem such as luteal phase defect. The fertilized egg needs time to implant and that wouldn’t give it enough time. Track your BBT and ovulation so if this is the case for you, you can present it to your doctor. It is something that can be fixed :)
