My boyfriend has been invited to be a part of a wedding in March but was told only this month that he's expected to rent a $180 suit and that he's responsible for the money. He's 20 and not currently employed, and the groom is well aware that my boyfriend can't afford to spend $180 on just a suit, and he's also supposed to be chipping in $80 for the bachelor party.

Am I wrong for thinking this is rude? There's no time to save up a little at a time and there was no warning it would cost this much.
