How did you wean?

Question

When weaning, did you slowly start offering milk instead of breastfeeding? My LO is almost one and still nurses 7 or 8 times per day. Would you gradually give whole milk at all of those times? Or sometimes just water and a snack? I'm a FTM... help... I don't know how this works... I'm not going to push her into anything she's not ready for but I wouldn't even know where to begin if she started showing signs.

I gave my son drinks and still breastfed him in the morning naps and at bedtime. I completely cut him off at 16 months. He took it a lot better than I thought. He only had 1 bad day when he wanted to feed and I didn’t let him.

Most kids don’t start to self wean until age 2+. There’s no magic formula. My son does 3 meals 3 snacks and still breastfeeds at least 3 times a day. He drinks water. He doesn’t love milk. I’m just going to keep breastfeeding until he doesn’t want it anymore.
