Middle is always the safest. Im about to have my second so i'll have to adjust to fit two car seats. I've been told to put the youngest child on the passenger side mainly for convenience, if I need to reach back to the baby for any reason it would be easier if they're on the passenger side. Deffinatley something to think about.

I drive a big truck so I'd have to get all the way in the truck to get the baby in and out if it was in the middle. I chose the drivers side for that reason.

The safest is technically the middle seat, but not all cars are able to have a car seat there. My middle seat is a little bit of a hump and our daughter's car seat would be super unstable if we put it there. So it's directly behind my seat (driver's seat) for convenience reasons.
