Want to Learn More!
Hello everyone,
I’m a training physician (medical student) and I would really love to incorporate holistic and natural medicine into my practice. Some examples:
Diabetes: advising diet changes instead of insulin
Back Pain: prescribing yoga instead of pain meds
Mild infections: waiting for them to resolve instead of immediately prescribing antibiotics unless it is very serious
Labor: offering water births, hands-off labor, and intervention ONLY in emergencies
I have a couple questions for your community and would love to learn more.
1. What are some things you would like to hear from a doctor when you go for a visit?
2. In a life-threatening situation (like a brain bleed from a car crash), do you care whether the medicine is holistic or is that more for everyday life/minor issues?
3. What is the worst thing you’ve ever heard from a doctor?
4. If more doctors were open to this type of treatment (like I want to be) would you be more likely to trust them?
5. What’s the thing that scares you most about “Western Medicine” and pharmaceuticals?
Thank you in advance! This will be extremely helpful to both me and hopefully my future patients.
