4 cm Dilated!?

Question

I'm 39 weeks pregnant today. Just had my 39 week check up and my OB said my cervix is super soft and stretchy and I'm 4cm dilated. Does that mean I could go into labour any minute? Or does that mean it could still be weeks? ( I haven't felt anything to tell me I was starting to dilate or possible labour soon. So it makes me think being dilated at 4cm means nothing)

I was open with 4cm for a week before I got in labor.

I just think of it as your body is getting ready, but it really doesn’t mean anything for when you could go into labor. 
I was 1cm and 80% at 36 weeks and went into labor at 37 weeks. They checked me in the hospital and I was still 1cm and 80% effaced... they almost sent me home but in less than 3 hours I was 10cm and 100% and pushing haha
So it really can happen at any time! On the plus side once you go into labor you’re already ahead of the game at 4cm which is awesome!

I walked around for a couple of weeks at 4cm and still got induced at 39wks.

My water usually breaks around 4-5cm. But I also know women who went weeks at 2-3cm. I’d say you’re definitely on the way though.
