Tamiflu as preventative measure?

My coworker has the flu.  This was Monday.  She was at work 6 hours before going home and getting tamiflu. She hasn’t returned to work since. I called my doctor bcuz I’m nervous about it.  I feel fine (minus usual tired/headache etc).  I’ll be 12 weeks this weekend.  My doc prescribed tamiflu for 5 days because I was exposed but I’m nervous because I didn’t want to take any medications.  Any advice here?  Thanks!

I’d take it as a precaution. It’s better to try to prevent it then be too late and get the flu.

Definitely take it. My parents came to visit last week and promptly came down with the flu. I went and got a script that day and so far have avoided any sign of it! It’s a lifesaver!

I would only take something if it needed treating. You don't know you will catch the flu, but you can treat yourself if you start coming down with it

I wouldn't worry about it too much.. my husband had it and I didn't catch it.

Tamiflu isn’t going to prevent you from getting the flu, it’s also not a treatment for the flu, it only reduces your symptoms by 24-48 hours. After doing research and talking with drs tamiflu isn’t something I would take pregnant or not. I would personally just up your vitamin c and wash your hands frequently. Unfortunately you’ve been exposed so you’re either going to get it or not.

If your doctor is your OB I would go with the recommendation to take the preventive measures they recommend.
