ovulating twice?

Question

Is it possible to ovulate twice in a cycle? Like super far apart? My last period was January 18th. I've taken 2 pregnancy tests and their both negative and I am getting positive ovulation tests.

Answer

No. You only ovulate once in a cycle (the only exception is incredibly rare and is called hyperovulation - but you would ovulate twice within 48 hours of each other...and super super rare).
It is possible for your body to gear up to ovulate, so get ewcm and an LH surge (so positive opk) but then not actually ovulate at that point and then get another surge and ovulate then later in your cycle.
Opk's don't confirm ovulation, they just identify The LH surge which is what triggers ovulation. The only way to confirm ovulation is by bbt tracking. If you've gotten a positive opk say 10 days ago and then gotten another positive opk today there's a couple of things
1. Could be a normal LH fluctuation - LH varies throughout your cycle and it's possible to get a LH surge directly before your period.
2. Opk's can detect pregnancy, but in all instances where I have seen this the opk has been blazingly positive and a pregnancy test taken with first morning pee has had at the very least a faint line.
3. You didn't ovulate when you think you did with your first positive opk, and are now ovulating with your second positive opk.
Soooo, covering all bases (assuming you don't track bbt) .. have sex on the day of your recent positive opk and for 3 days following. Grab some more pregnancy tests and test with first morning pee tomorrow (if you got the positive opk today) and again on Sunday .. if they're negative then it's more likely that you're now ovulating.

Also note that you will get another slight LH surge 1-3 days before you’re period to halt progesterone production and ready the uterine lining for shedding. This is why it’s a bad idea to keep using opks after your initial surge or as a pregnancy predictor.
