My birth story

Br

When my son was born I thought to myself it was finally my time to post my story on the glow app but I never really got into detail about how my baby boy entered this world. I was 40 weeks and six days and it was December 3rd, I was scheduled for induction the following night I had gone to get something to eat with my husband. We had came back and sat down on the couch when my dog walked up to me and peed on my leg. I was so angry but I hadn’t realized that for the past 4 weeks I had been telling my dog to just give me a sign when it was time. Little did I know I would go into labor an hour later. I labored at home for about four hours when around 4 o’clock in the morning I told my husband it was time to go. When we arrived at the hospital they had made me aware that I was only 3 cm dilated but that my blood pressure was so high that I would not be leaving without a baby. After getting in my room and laboring naturally until 5 cm, I was finally given my epidural. With my best friend by my side, and my husband sleeping on the chair (haha), Labor was pretty smooth from then on out. At around 6pm they came in and told me that it was time to push. Everything was going smoothly, I had all the doctors telling me that I was pushing great for a first time mom, and that it had been only been 15 minutes and we were almost there. But that’s when things got complicated. My son could not make it past my pelvic bone, causing shoulder dysplasia. A rush of doctors entered the room, causing me to panic, my husband was trying to stay calm and my best friend holding back tears. After the doctor practically tugging to get him out he was blue and his cord had been wrapped around his neck. They quickly unwrap the cord and threw him on me to get him breathing. They then monitor him extensively while they fix me up. The doctors then couldn’t find where my bleeding was coming from which worried everyone in the room. After an hour I finally got a hold my baby boy and after everything I went through I couldn’t be happier to be a mother.
