Darn you snow...

ch

So me and my hubby to be had to go out grocery shopping yesterday because a snow storm was coming and I wanted to get stuff in before it got worse. So we went outside all wrapped up and I thought it would be a “great idea” to start sliding in the snow.

So there I am about to fall and I grab my partner who also starts to fall. He’s wearing big heavy boots and I’m wearing £3 trainers. On my way down he stops himself by stomping his foot heavily into the ground.....or should I say my ankle.

So I’m lying in the snow repeating “I’ve broke my ankle I’ve broke my ankle I’ve broke my ankle”.

And how did I know? I heard it crunch.

So we are 5 minutes away from the hospital and luckily enough an ambulance goes by but they have somebody in the back and have called for a team to come and get us. 10-15 minutes later still nobody. Police happen to drive by and I am surrounded by police men covering me from the snow.

When they realise the ambulance is taking way too long they all pick me up and give me front seat in their Land Rover 😂

On the way to the hospital they realise they’ve left my partner behind so we literally had to swing the car around and go and get him.

So we arrive to the emergency room and they don’t believe that I’ve broken my ankle cause I’m all calm, no tears or anything. They assume it’s just a sprain or a small fracture.

So arrived at the hospital at 1:30pm and never got a bed till 10:30pm that NIGHT. Fuming as I was they where moving my ankle in the most awkward of places to get a good x-ray.

The specialised doctor came and said it looks bad but because of how I’m reacting its making them less worried because if I had have broken something “I would really know”.

Low and behold...

I’ve broken my tibia and fibula.

I had been given paracetamol when I arrived at 2pm, gas and air at 10pm for putting the cast on and then a morphine tablet around 10:30/11 for me to try to get to sleep with the pain.

I currently have to piss and shit in a bucket under my bed because I really cannot move my leg 😭 I have to get injections in my stomach before I go to sleep to stop any bloody clots in my leg.

Plus my temperature is a little bit higher than normal so they come in at 3-4am to check my temperature so literally no sleep at all.

Have to wait 5-10 days for the swelling to go down so they can operate :(

This is Day 1 of 14.

Wish me luck guys 😭
