Flu shot and tdap shot? Opinions?

What Are Your Ideas Or Opinions Of The TDap Shot While Pregnant. I Am A FTM And Did Some Research But I’m Not Comfortable With What I Seen. Please Help.

I'm vaccinated, and very happy and healthy (got both as soon as I could). I also have very strong opinions on the matter, though, and there is no credible research to suggest vaccinations are harmful, whereas we have plenty to support their benefits. Down with small pox 😉😉

I got the flu shot at 8 weeks and the tdap at 30 weeks. When my doctor explained that half of all babies who get whooping cough pass away I was happy to get that vaccine, which helps protect the baby the sooner you get it during pregnancy (after 27 weeks).

Tdap is very safe and the antibodies it gives you can even be passed to baby through breastmilk. So it gives them a buffer of protection between birth and when they can get Dtap at 2 months. Whooping cough is rare but it's becoming more common due to people not vaccinating so it's definitely one I'd recommend. 
As for the flu shot, I got it and still got the flu. but it was only 10% effective this year so that's not a huge shock. I am very pro-vaccination but usually don't get the flu vaccine because it's not a tried and true vaccine like the rest of them...they essentially make an educated guess each year as to how the virus will mutate and, more often than not, they miss the mark. But being pregnant I went for it this time...who knows if I would have had it worse if I hadn't gotten the shot. 🤷 I feel like Whooping Cough and similar vaccines are musts but the flu vaccine is more a personal choice. But, as for the safety of it, it is very safe. If you're worried about preservatives and all that, my doctor uses only preservative free vaccines on pregnant women. You can ask to see if your doc does the same and, if not, request they order that kind for you.

Well I don’t plan on breastfeeding. And I understand what you saying. Doctors are so quick to tell you what you need to do but don’t tell the consequences ( in my experience ) doctors by me haven’t really been helpful through out my pregnancy which is why I had to change my doctor almost 5 times because each one tells me something different from the other. Which is why I do my research. I finally found a doctor in which I think is good but I feel like it’s kind of late being that I’m almost at that time to give birth. I’ve never heard of the tdap from any of the other doctors so when it was brought up it was like a fluent language to my sister, my mother and I. The other doctors made sure to tell me about all these other vaccines except this one which is why I’m kind of against it. I’ve been in a predicament where I was suppose to get one thing and ended Up getting something else. So my trust levels with doctors isn’t really as high as it’s suppose to be.
