Blood test for gender?

Okay i have a friend who is pregnant with her second baby but I’m 2 weeks further than her (3months) but she said her doctor said they can use the blood from the Down syndrome test to tell you your gender . Anyone done this?

I did this test. For Down’s syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities at 12 weeks and found out I’m having a boy. 
There is no blood test for Autism lol no idea what the above comment is about.

At 10 weeks my doctor offered a blood test that checked for chromosome abnormalities. That includes the sex chromosomes, so they’re able to tell you if your baby is boy or girl. It takes about 2 weeks for your results to come back. It’s an optional test, I did it at 12 weeks & found out sex at 14 weeks.

I just did progenity. It’s for autism and other chromosome abnormalities. 
Also lets you know babies gender. 
At 13 weeks I’m confirmed having a baby girl. 
And she has NO chromosome abnormalities 😊

These tests are optional and not all insurances cover them, so I’d also consider the costs involved. If you are resting for chromosomal abnormalities it may not be an issue having an extra cost, but if you’re doing it just to find out the gender, maybe that becomes a factor.

I got it, but it cost a shocking 18,000 dollars. Thank God for comercial insurance, which covered most of it. I was only responsible for $300. Found out the sex of the baby at 10 weeks and also found out that there were no chromosomal abnormalities including Down Syndrome.

It can be done as early as 10 weeks. You have to specifically ask to know gender though. They have tests that are just for Down syndrome and other genetic disorders that they won’t tell you the gender for. But I did a test called “panorama” for both of my daughters. Tested gender and genetic disorders. First daughter was done at 10 1/2 weeks and she ended up passing away from a rare disorder called “monosomy x” at 14 weeks. Second daughter I had it done at 12.5 weeks and got results at 14 weeks. She is a healthy baby girl. I also had further testing done though which are the tests that aren’t for gender, just for the disorders and I get those results at 17 weeks because it’s a two time blood draw.
