Last day of period, can you conceive?

My husband and I had sex on the day of my ovulation which was a week ago. It's been about 3 weeks since my period. The last day was really light when we had sex. Anyway, my breasts are becoming tender and I figure it's too early to come from pregnancy symptoms unless I conceived after my period. And my next period isn't for 2 weeks. Can you conceive before ovulation?

Possibly yes, probable no. Sperm live 2-5 days and most people ovulate around CD 14. So say the last day of your period was CD 6, well that’s 8 days that the sperm would have to survive. It’s possible that you ovulated earlier than normal and it’s possible that you had a super sperm in there, so again, possible but not super likely. If, however, this were the case and sperm met egg, the day that happened (ovulation day) would be the actual day of conception, not the day you had sex (it’s important to know that if you want to accurately calculate how far along you’d be based on conception, tho most docs will go by your last period or a dating scan). If it’s been 3 weeks and you had sex around CD 6, this should mean your next expected period should be here or almost here, so you could certainly be having early pregnancy symptoms and it should be ok to test.
