Actuane for acne?

Has anyone ever taken Acutane for severe acne, if so do you have any feedback? My 17 year old son has been prescribed it by the dermatologist but I’ve heard many bad side effects and it seems almost dangerous.

My 15 yr old son just finished his treatment and he did just fine. He had very bad acne and now he is completely clear. He does still have some redness but the doctor said that will go away in about a month. I am very happy with the results.

I took it as a teen. I honestly don’t remember if it helped my acne but I do remember it made my depression worse, it was the only time I really thought about suicide (didn’t have a plan or strong desire to actually do it but thought about it a lot). I didn’t tell anyone that but my doctor took me off it anyway, said my liver function tests or something were wacky on it. Looking back idk if that was the case or if my mom told him I was acting different. So many people don’t have any side effects, though, if you’re worried you’ll be paying attention and be sure to mention anything worrisome to the doctor.

I haven’t but my friend has. It helped her acne a lot. And yes there are a lot of bad potential side effects but she said it was worth it.

It worked amazing for me. I took it when I was 21. I had severe acne. The Accutane made my skin look like chalk and my lips were cracked. But in less than 2 months, my skin was completely clear. I definitely recommend it!

I took it. I was 24 when I started it. Was on it for less than a year. It definitely helped my skin a lot and I’m happy I did it! But I did have to deal with side effects like my skin getting way worse before it got better, my skin was VERY dry, and a lot of times my face was red and kinda looked like I had a sunburn. It helped me tremendously but I also didn’t have super severe acne. I would recommend it though.

My sister did because she had very aggressive acne. She didn't have any real side effects except dry skin. You couldn't tell she has ever had acne now.

i did it as an adult and loved the results. the acne came back a few years later, but not nearly as bad a treatable through less extreme measures.  based on my experience,  i would recommend it.

I took it when I was 24. I was on it for 6 months. Everyone is going to scare you with side effects but everyone I know including myself who has taken it has never had any major side effects. The only issue I had with it was not healing fast from cuts or any sore. And tell him do not mess with his pimples when on it. His body won’t heal right and everything he pops will infect and stay there and scar terribly
