Evie - ? Short for? need help!

we are having our first baby, a girl! There's so many cute names to choose from (suggestions of all kinds WELCOME), but mostly we like Evie (EV). I'm trying to let Evelyn sink in but it's not... I wouldn't mind just naming her Evie. Some have wondered if the name sounds "too harsh" (ee-vie) or will it age well with her? I think so.. I can see her as a teenager and an adult with the name Evie.

what are some thoughts on Evie Kate?? What could it be short for, if needed? Other names??
