I had a chicken that hatched and couldn't walk. She couldn't get up to feed herself so I kept her in my room with me and helped her eat and drink. Like I said in my last post people who raise birds kill anything weak/deformed. I can't do it. I always try something else. *In defense of them, they do it because if they don't the deformed or weak chicken/ whatever it is will most likely be bullied- sometimes killed by other chickens and such. Also, they'll grow up and pass their crud genes and make more sickly animals. But me? There's something in me that just cannot do it. So I don't.

It's like her legs were just sticking out of her body. If I pushed them together (it didn't hurt her) i realized that she could stand with support.

So I found something to basically tie her legs to her body like you see in the pic. She could stand that way. I had to push her to walk and eventually she was like "oh, I can do that?" And for a few days just wobbled with this tape on her legs but could now eat and drink on her own and explore her crate.

It trained her legs to be in the right position. She could walk now. Grew into a normal healthy chicken.

This chicken imprinted on me and for real thought i was her mother. I had her in my room like I said and if I left the room she cried and cried. She had to see me at all times from her little crate. Eventually she got to go hang out with the other chickens and I could always tell who she was because she was the only one to freak out and run to me when I walked outside.

If any of mine hatch weird, you'll get to see how I try to fix it.

More info, chickens have a pecking order. They pick on the weak. All my other chickens were healthy and feisty. They were mean to her because she was weak. If you look at her toe in the picture with the tape, you can see that it's bleeding. They bit her toe! So she got special treatment and got to stay in the house and get fixed up. She also got to go on car rides because she cried when I left an I felt bad so I just took her. Never once pooped in the car lol

Y'all deserve a name. I thought she was a boy and named her Stanley.

Stanley actually hatched at the wrong end of the egg. Chickens need to be in the right position to hatch. The fact that she even hatched was crazy. I don't know if that caused her leg issues but🤷‍♀️ stanley is a badass.

I was afraid he'd try to eat my chicken eggs that I'm incubating but he hasn't even shown interest in messing with the incubator. If he does go near it or watch me candle eggs he cautiously watches. It's like he understand that they're babies.
