Car seat facing rear or forward?

Question

When did you turn your child’s car seat forward? I still have my son rear facing at 2yrs (35 1/4 inch tall ; 32 lbs)... he has the extend fit seat and is still comfortable rear facing... they say it’s much safer to stay rear facing, so how or why did you know to turn them forward ?

My son is kind of a peanut (25.5lbs and 33.5in tall) and I plan on EEF (extended rear facing) as long as possible. We have the graco 4ever in one car and the Nuna Rava in the other car and both are able to RF until 50+ lbs. I’m hoping to get to height/weight limit if at all possible or minimum 3.5-4yo before flipping forward. It is so much safer and if you think of the physics of a crash, you generally fly forward — when rear facing their whole body sinks into the seat with force evenly distributed. Forward facing you get bruises or cracked bones at seatbelts and all the force in your head and neck that isn’t restrained. Just would rather kiddo be as strong and developed as possible before making the switch.

Our little girl is 32” and 23lbs. And I turned her the very moment I was legally able to. So right at 2. She was miserable rear facing and it made every little drive a nightmare. She’s been doing soooooo much better forward facing. I was just reading that they have been unable to recreate the study that is used to support rear facing beyond 2. Which was interesting to me. But either way, she’s happier. I’m happier. It was the right way to go.

We turns our daughter forward facing at two. I would have kept her rear facing until she outgrew the car seat parameters (which to be honest she was very close to on height), but we just had baby number two in January. To fit both car seats and for us to be able to drive we needed to turn her forward facing. We are both very tall and in one of our cars it would have been absolutely impossible for either of us to drive and both car seats to be rear facing. I really struggled with the decision my whole pregnancy with number two because it is so much safer rear facing, but we just didn’t have an option. I will tell you, now that she is forward facing she drops her toys and books much more because now they fall to the ground instead of into her lap. She also doesn’t look as comfortable napping cuz her head falls forward. I vote staying rear facing if you can.

Just turned my dd forward 2 weeks ago, so a month b4 her 3rd bday.

I turned my daughter around 15 months old. ONLY because she would get extremely sick everywhere we went and it was only getting worse. As soon as we turned her forward she stopped getting sick. If she hadn’t been getting sick she’d probably still be rear facing

We are still rear facing. Planning to until my daughter out grows that position . We have Britax Marathon which allows for up to 40 lbs and 49 inches (I believe) so we should be rear facing for another year or two. It sucks having two rear facing car seats (also a 4 month old now) but because this car seat has a recline she can see out the windows she is content so why bother changing her.

My daughter just turned 2 (27lbs, 35”) and she’s still rear facing. We have a Graco4Ever and she can stay rear facing to 40lbs, so that’s the plan unless she REALLY runs out of leg room. 
My nephew is going to be 2 in a couple weeks (32lbs 36”) and my sister moved him forward facing a month or so ago due to his lack of leg room.
