How do you clean your baby’s teeth?

I’ve heard conflicting things about whether or not they even need to be cleaned. I have a baby toothbrush but my eleven month old hates me trying to brush the five teeth she has. Can I just wipe them with a wet washcloth? How do you clean your bub’s teeth?

with a toothbrush and toothpaste. As soon as teeth erupt the gum you should start cleaning them. Many babies don't like it but they get used to it, find a way that works for your baby. Not brushing her teeth can cause tooth decay and you'd feel worse if all her teeth went rotten and she needed medical attention. I used to have to stand behind my son and hold his head so I could brush his teeth. Try a fruit flavoured tooth paste x

The only time a washcloth will suffice is if your baby hasn’t got teeth yet and you are just wiping the gums. Once teeth start coming you need to brush with toothpaste. 🙂

My son has two teeth 7 months old I brush with toothpaste kids toothpaste with fluoride just use like a rice size amount and brush once in morning and once at night it’s important my son has nice teeth if your baby doesn’t like it you’ll have to just keep forcing it until they get used to it only way the baby will get use to it and it’s important so don’t not do it

All you need to do for now is clean them with a damp wash cloth. Our 9 month old has 6 teeth and 2 more coming in and our pediatrician still advises against toothbrushes and toothpaste. If you are unsure of what to do then always consult your pediatrician first and foremost. Babies shouldn't have fluoride tooth past until they're at least 2 years old and I'm seeing a lot of women here telling you to use toothpaste. So definitely speak with your pediatrician so you have up to date and accurate information.

My pediatrician advised us to brush with just water as soon as she got teeth to get her used to the toothbrush. I would just keep trying the brush until she is used to it

we have started trying to get my 15 month old used to it and we make him sit there at get them the best we can and at his 15 month check up they started fluoride treatments on the 4 teeth he has now.

We got this electric toothbrush & some training toothpaste & it's made all the difference (she used to bite down & refuse a toothbrush in & fight haard). Not sure why, but this is the only toothbrush my girl will let in. I brush first as best I can for as long as I can & then I let her have the toothbrush to do it herself, which she loves to do, she just isn't great at it yet. lol.

My 18 month old hates it. Usually, the only way I can do it is if I'm teasing him with his paci & the same time & he'll just find it funny. Otherwise, he just shakes his head , no or turns the other way & gets upset.
