Chemical pregnancy question

At five weeks I noticed blood when I used the toilet in the morning and then the bleeding continued to get heavier and I had cramping like a normal period. I suspect it was a chemical pregnancy. I had bleeding for about four days like a normal period but when I took a test today it’s still showing a positive result. Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t have any hope that I’m still pregnant as I no longer have any symptoms anymore but just sort of wondering how long it took for hcg levels to drop. Most other women are saying they had a negative result and then started bleeding. I would really like to start trying again
