Clothing over top of cloth diapers?

FTM and baby isn’t here yet, we’ve decided to cloth diaper and my question is : do baby clothes fit over cloth diapers? they seem more bulky then disposable.. do you find that you have to buy larger sizes of onesies etc to accommodate?

My girl is pretty chunky (70 percentile in weight) and we are still wearing 6 month onesies at almost a years old. I feel like it depends more on the brand. I feel like the gap cloths fit her for longer periods of time. Pants can go either way. Jeans are hard to get out over the fluffy butt. Leggings sometimes look silly too and I usually size up. But pants that are loose and baggy fit normally.

Honestly we use prefolds with thirsties covers and I haven't had to go up a size ever in pants. Everything fits the same as if we were using disposable! ;)

Depending what kind sometimes they size up in pants a bit sooner than they might with regular diapers but ours are mostly pretty slim & he’s in the same size he’d be if we were to use disposables. Cloth is amazing! Good for you!

My LO usually fit in the pants that went with her shirts. However, she has always been tall and slender, and is long-waisted in particular, so it might not work out the same for chunkier babes. We potty trained at 20 months and had been barely fitting her 2T pants in diapers, but once she was in undies they were practically falling off!

It’s been fine for us.
Only the last 2 weeks of wear seems to cause an issue... but that’s more my baby growing than the nappy being too bulky.

We size up in everything. And use a onesie extender. My daughter is 5 months old and wearing all 9 months clothes. But she's off the charts in height and probably greater than 75th percentile in weight. So I'd say it just depends on baby's shape. They definitely are bulkier though, even when using flats which are pretty trim.
