how do you rais your kids vegan/veggie?

I'm not a momma yet. but i live in a small country town, And want to have kids one day. how do yall do it?

our family is already on a vegan diet. our son is only going to be 3, but because of not only the diet, but, political beliefs, things regular schools dont teach our kids, we've decided it's best too homeschool him.

There's lots of vegan kids that are extremely healthy and LOVE fruits and veggies, and yes they typically understand the vegan concept and that's why most stick with it. Just make sure everyone is eating abundantly.

I have good family friends who are vegan and they tried raising their first child vegan but he had lots of issues getting enough protein and gaining weight. With their second child they waited until they were old enough to make their own decision and then they didn’t have the same medical issues. Personally, I am a vegetarian and I know that I have to put significant effort into getting enough protein each day so I agree with letting the child make their own decision because diet is a personal choice. Although it is your family so it would be entirely up to you!

If you raise them on plants to begin with it’s easier. Also if you have a spouse who is on board for the kids being vegan. I’m in the process of going from Vegetarian to vegan and I’ve struggled to keep my daughter meat free... she still has milk products and eggs because I can’t win that fight and now she loves milk and cheese too much. My husband is a meat eater, he is supportive of my decision and recognizes that it’s healthier but he doesn’t agree that our daughter can get the nutrition she needs on a vegan diet (she is two) so right now our home is simply reducatarian (eating as little animal products as possible) and pending a visit to a nutritionist/dietitian he has agreed to explore her going vegan for now as long as I let her make the choice herself when she is old enough.
My kid loves animals, somehow I think it will be an easy choice when the time comes. And I will love her even if she doesn’t want to be vegan.
For now it’s pushing a variety of plant based foods and educating her as opportunities arise.
(Learning about where plants come from, shopping at local farms, how to be healthy, how to cook the plants, and when she is older we will cross the animal cruelty bridge and sustainability... those are a bit complex/heavy when you’re 2... honestly they are pretty complex and heavy when you’re 26)
