After we lost one of our twins everything else with the pregnancy went smooth. At 35 weeks I was at home. Had just put my other two kids to bed (they are 2.5 and 17 months.) Hubs and I were laying in bed watching movies when I started to get this uncomfortable back pain that was coming in waves so I stood up knowing that contractions will either get worse with position change or if it gets better then it’s a false alarm. Minutes later I couldn’t stop crying, nothing I did made the pain better so hubs called MIL to come over. I called my OB told him I believe I was in labor, I mean how could I not be? I was rolling on the floor vomiting and screaming in pain that came in waves every 4 minutes. Got to the hospital, yes contractions, preterm labor, but they didn’t think it was labor pain; they knew something else was triggering my labor, I was passing my first ever kidney stones. Was admitted for preterm labor, given a morphine pump and countless bags of fluids, steroids for baby’s lungs and things got better after I passed the stones numerous hours later. Was discharged home on bed rest.

Since that day I was in and out of the hospital for preterm labor issues, discovered I was in early stages of kidney failure but wasn’t severe enough and baby was beyond happy in my belly so I wasn’t allowed by hospital rules to induce early. So I saw my OB twice a week for NST, labs and he searched and searched for a medical reason to force the hospital to allow me to induce, failed lol

Finally at 38w3d I had my last check up, I was 2 cm dilated and OB did a sweep. We scheduled my elective induction at 39w for Friday 3/9. Wednesday 3/7 I woke to large/massive chunk of my bloody mucus plug, mild cramps and irregular contractions so I did what any other desperate mother would have done... I nested really hard hoping to trigger labor. You know bending over scrubbing the tub, the floors, organized the pantry.... nope nothing happened. That night I lost another decent size bloody plug then more random contractions thru the night. Thursday I relaxed, I was to be at the hospital at midnight to start my induction. My OB wanted me to give birth early in the morning around 5:00am -8:00am.

At the hospital we started my pitocin, was given the first dose antibiotics since I was GB+ and my bag of waters was to be broke around 2:00 am. When the house OB Came to do it the baby was so high she couldn’t reach the bag to break it so we waited for more contractions to bring baby down.

Around 6:30am they checked me, my OB showed up asking the status. I was only 4 cm and he broke my water. That’s when contractions got strong. Epidural was done. It only partially worked so we had to redo it. OB came back at 8:30am and checked me again. I was only at 5cm. So he went to his office to do appointments and asked them to slow my pitocin and shoot for a lunch delivery.

Around 9:30 am baby’s heart rate started dropping really low so we turned off my pitocin and gave him a break. We also did an amnio infusion where they put fluid back in the uterus bc the house OB was guessing baby was laying and compressing his cord. Baby enjoyed this and we just chilled till 11:00am.

We started pitocin back up. OB showed around 12:30. Checked me I was 9.5 cm. Said he was going to go grab a quick snack and be back. 15 minutes later he showed back up and checked. I was 10cm. I have a history of being a very powerful pusher so OB wanted me to do one test push at the end of a contraction just to see how well baby was coming down. I said “you sure you don’t want to gown up? You remember it only took 3 pushes with Sebi?” He says just a test push... yeah I did a “giggle push” then my OB in a laughing panic says “stop!” Lol he gowned and I did one push and out plop my 3rd sweet baby boy.

Baby was placed on my tummy. Hubs cut cord then the nursery nurse said baby isn’t as pink as she would like and asked if she could take him. Of course I said yes. They put him on the warmer next to me and gave him oxygen and daddy held his hand. After about 15 min baby boy started to pink up enough that she felt comfortable letting me have him back for skin-to-skin but asked I didn’t feed him. We finally got to try nursing at almost 2 hours after birth and he did great.

After 2 prior kids who look everything like me and nothing like their dad we finally got our dark haired baby boy who looks everything like dad and dad is grinning ear to ear with joy.
