Will perm soften my hair?

My hair is tangled 4c madness and I am trying to tell my mother that perming my hair won’t solve the fact that it is tangled and I need to untangle it first(doing that today) am I right or wrong?

Getting a perm will ruin your hair. Especially if it already tangles bad

The only way a perm can “untangle” your hair is if you have naturally curly hair ... you can use a perm and comb your out and let the perm set the straightening in.  But for soft hair a perm is ver abrasive and will dry and damage your hair, especially if its already damaged.  You can use a leave in conditioner.
