Smell from umbilical cord?

Still attached after 2 weeks and it is starting to smell. No discharge or fever. Is the smell normal?
Is alcohol still recommended for cleaning the stump?

I was told not to clean it with alcohol and I was also told to call the doctor if it started to smell.

My Sons cord fell off at around 1week, but 2weeks later it's still weepy and smells. Not infected just taking its time to heal. I don't use anything on it apart from warm water when he's having a bath, then let it dry naturally. His nappy tends to rub, so when he's asleep I unbutton his onesie and pull the front of his nappy down to give it an airing. Health Visitor not concerned and my other son had the same when he was born.

I was given alcohol wipes for my baby, also q tips to clean it out to keep dry, but if it’s smelling id go to the doctor, my baby is two weeks and hers fell out last week
