No such thing as step dad's?

Tell me if anyone else agrees, but as far as I'm concerned my ladies daughter is my daughter. sure I may not be her father biologically, but I don't feel that makes a bit of difference. I hate when people try to downplay step dad's like they're just supposed to be there.

If the father is in the picture and they are a wonderful dad then your def not the father figure. Not being rude but honest. If he father is not in the picture you have every right to play the father role.

I think its different for every family. I'd say let the kids decide what to call you. My husbands mother died when he was a baby and his dad remarried, but him and his brother call her by her first name. Not because they don't love her but because it would be like forgetting their mother.

my daughter's real dad is still in her life although maybe not as active as she'd like.. But they love each other and see each other. my current husband is her step dad and he is there for her just like she was his own. he never tries to replace her dad although they have a better relationship.. he's there for her more and more involved than her real dad. nothing wrong with being there for her and being in her life too.

There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach to blended families. A lot of trail n error usually occurs before a happy medium can be reached by all parties involved. Good luck (my step-dad is the BEST!!).

dear i believe if there someone gonna step up to the plate n be the father or mother to that child n love them like there own n take care of them n give them the love n care what they deserve  that's a father n mother to that child .my daughter calls my husband dad n lives him as her dad. he lives her like his own daughter n will protect her n do anything for her.  you are right there is no step parents only if there heart's doesn't truly love them  then that is another person in  there lifes . hopeful the mother or father would say you can't love my child like your own then you can't be apart of my life because they are a big part. of my life
