Hi,

My step son lives with his mum and my partner and herself have equal custody rights. We pay child maintenance payments weekly (more than is expected too) but lately she has demanded more money (for herself, not for his child) and when we refused, she cut off all communication. They live abroad and we usually see him on Skype twice a day with a weeks long physical visit every 6 weeks when he travels over to stay with us, but we haven’t seen him or heard from her since yesterday morning. There is no custody or residential order in place. Can we report her to the police for holding him at ransom? I know it’s extreme but we’ve had his before and it went on for two weeks, and I’m not prepared to go through that again.
