TWW Spotting / heavy bleeding & BFP!!
Ladies, I had been TTC for #1 for 9 months. Since I’m 35, I went to see a fertility doc around month 7. After all tests came back normal, Doc recommended IUI with Clomid. I had my first cycle in Feb. About 10 DPO, I saw some light brown spotting (only when I wiped), as well as some AF mild cramps. It continued on 11 DPO and by 12 DPO the cramping got more intense. I was convinced AF was coming to town. On the 13 DPO I could smell AF (sorry TMI, but it’s the smell of blood when you have AF). That night, I peed and turned the toilet bowl red. I put a tampon in and poured myself a glass of red wine.
I called my Doc the next morning and she told me to come in the next day to start my next cycle. On 14 DPO, I bled all day. I changed my tampon every few hours, I wasn’t soaking them ever hour, but I figured it was a light period. That night, I noticed the tampon was mostly white, which was odd, so I switched to a pad to sleep. On 15 DPO (which at the time I thought was CD 3), I went to the Doc in the morning and they took my blood to check my hormone levels and they did an U/S to make sure there were no fibroids. I noticed that day that I wasn’t bleeding much, only spotting. Again, given all the blood I had seen prior, I assumed it was a light period.
The Doc called me a few hours later to tell me that me blood work came back with a BFP!!! I was in total disbelief! I read that many women swear AF is coming and then they get their BFP, but I hadn’t ever heard of very heavy, AF-like implantation bleeding. Maybe that’s why there’s that show on TLC called “I didn’t know I was pregnant!”
I spotted and cramped for another 2 days then both the spotting and cramping stopping. I went back to get my hormones checked twice and they have been going up and now I’m 6w1d and have my first U/S in 5 days.
I wanted to post my story since I’ve been reading on this App for the past 9 months and never came across a story where someone mistaken implantation bleeding for a period. If you get a light AF, don’t rule out a BFP!!!
