Should I Be Concerned??

My daughter switched from breast milk to formula this week and since the switch she’s only had 2 bowel movements and it’s been 5 days. She was going twice a day with breast milk. Should I be concerned?

Answer

Don’t be concerned yet. Our babe was the opposite. She’d only go every 7-9 days when ebf and goes every day now that we are supplementing with formula. Unless the babes tummy is firm and their visibly uncomfortable don’t worry the poo will come. Give lots of tummy massages, warm baths, and bicycle legs. You could always give 1 oz of apple juice to get things moving. If you get close to 10 days call your doc. We have had to use a baby laxative once and we only used half. But only after the doc approved it. Good luck!
