Heating pad during labor?

My obgyn nurse mentioned using a heating pad during labor to help with pain. She said it helps take most the pain away during contractions. I’m not buying it takes most the pain away at all. Is that true? Does it work?

It helped me a ton with my severe back labor but no, it no where near took all of the pain away. Unmedicated labor is intense and painful but there are many tools & positions to help. I found being in a soaking tub or hot shower to give the most pain relief. I loved the heating pad while sitting on my yoga ball too so definitely have those items handy! Best of luck!!

It helped me tremendously when I wasn't able to labor in the tub and had to be monitored. I plan on bringing mine.
