Safe # of espresso shots?

People get all up in arms about espresso....but 1 shot of espresso on average has less caffeine than 1 cup of coffee. It's just more concentrated, so people assume that because it tastes stronger, it has more caffeine. 
You can have 2 or 3 if that's your only caffeine intake for the day. Most espresso shots have about 60-75mg.

The caffeine restrictions are largely overly cautious. There is a good section in Expecting Better that explains it, if you’re interested. Basically there is research that in the first trimester women who drank a lot of coffee were at increased risk of miscarriage. However, that doesn’t control for if you’re drinking coffee you probably aren’t nauseated and may have a missed miscarriage. In other words, does coffee cause miscarriage or does miscarriage let you drink coffee? 
I didn’t limit my coffee intake. Maybe stick to one shot in the first trimester and back to two in the second. The 200mg cutoff is arbitrary and not even supported by any research for second and third trimester.

A shot of espresso has around 75 mg caffeine and 200 mg is safe during pregnancy. So two is fine.

I don't drink espresso shots so I'm not sure of the caffeine content in them. It's recommended to stay under 200mg of caffeine a day during pregnancy, if that helps any.
