How long did your SO have his Vasectomy?

I’m wondering how long everyone’s SO had his vasectomy. My SO has had his done for 7 years for his ex and we don’t plan on trying for 5 years. (Our VR doctor said it’s okay we wanted to wait. That he’s done plenty of men over 14 years and some 40 years and all had babies) so I want to hear some of your experiences?

Hubby had his vasectomy for almost 11 years and we fell pregnant on cycle 5 after his reversal. We welcomed our beautiful VR baby into the world 11 days ago xxx

My husband was 9 years from vasectomy to reversal. It took us 3 cycles of trying to get BFP. Our doctor said he would not do the surgery unless we were going to try right away. I would recommend waiting to get the reversal

My husband had his 4 years ago, we reversed it in March and are still waiting on a baby!!

My husband had his in December too, we are on cycle 4 of ttc. He had his for 11 years, but sperm analysis looked great! So we are hopeful this cycle!

My husband had his vasectomy for just a few days shy of 7 years. Dr saw both heads & tails on both sides during surgery & said we shouldn’t have any issues conceiving. We started trying right away & we’re going on cycle 14 with little hope. All of our counts are super low & we were referred to ivf w/icsi. We know we can get pregnant together because we have them from before the vasectomy & got pregnant right away every time, but we’re not willing to financially strain our current family to grow it. It is emotionally draining, though, when the whole family is on board & we’ve gone through all this. We wonder if the small hematoma he developed on one side after reversal affected the outcome. He’s on a ton of supplements trying to increase counts to maybe try a round of iui (much cheaper than ivf). My recommendation is to make sure your husband gets the semen analysis done right at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, & 13 months so you know what you are working with & if numbers are going up or down. There’s always a chance of scar tissue build up later on. If your reversal Dr will, I’d have him freeze some sperm during reversal ‘just in case’ 5 years down the road when you’re ready to ttc, if it doesn’t happen naturally, that you’d have this to fall back on for ivf. Our surgery clinic insisted that we start right away and would not even do the surgery unless we agreed and signed paperwork saying that we would start trying immediately after the healing process was complete.

My SO had his for 5 years but we’ve had lots of problems. My advice is not to wait. I wouldn’t risk it but that’s just my opinion. One of my husbands vas was not repairable due to scaring and a very large lump so we only have one side done. SA not great either. If he’d had it sooner maybe both sides could have been done
