one kid vs two kids?

My brother and his wife has a two year old boy. He's so chill and adorable. My step mom however has two boys, year two and three and it seems to be a nightmare. She said having one kid was so easy but once another is brought into the mix it gets exponentially harder. I'm wondering if this is mostly true?

I am an only child and i had a very lonely childhood. But that probably wasn't just because I had no siblings. I didn't really have neighbors to play with and my parents worked opposite shifts so one of them was usually sleeping. I'd say two unless you really make an effort to get them playmates but thats a very personal choice so up to you

I have three, and the hardest thing is the drama, and hearing "it's not fair" every two seconds.  And they can be really loud together.  But for the most part, I think it's fine.  And I'm crazy enough to be pregnant with a forth....

Depends on the kid. I wanted two but my first is NOT a chill baby like you described. I know people who have babies who will hang out in their swing or lay or play on its own. My son has never been that way. He screams if he’s not attached to me. There’s no way I could handle a second one at this point.

Kids are hard, so it stands to reason that more children will be more challenging. I agree with the other comment, though — I still want like 4 or 5 lol.

I feel like developmentally two will be better in the long run if they're within 3 years of each other but with that comes a very hard beginning. Two toddlers does not sound fun to me. I've seen a lot of mommies struggle. I want to because I want my kiddos to have a friend and playmate and someone they have a close bond to their entire lives. Although it's not garunteed that they'll get along so what do I know? My sister and I were two peas in a pod and now we barely talk so whatever. We hated each other as kids too but we always had each other's back and still do today. Nothing can compare to the love of a sibling.
